The Event in Brief
In October 2024, Eventions Productions was selected as the sole technical production partner for GlaxoSmithKline’s Annual Global Technology Summit — the company’s flagship four-day international conference that brought together over 4,000 executives, researchers, and technology leaders from more than 35 countries.
Hosted at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the summit was delivered across two large general session halls and multiple breakout rooms, requiring a highly coordinated production setup capable of supporting precision-timed keynote presentations, seamless multi-room AV integration, and high-quality live broadcasting to a global remote audience. Every technical element — from staging and lighting to audio, video, and live streaming — was designed to maintain a clean, professional, and high-end corporate experience.
The result was one of the most technically advanced corporate events delivered by Eventions Productions to date, successfully executed with flawless coordination, strong technical reliability, and a production standard that matched the expectations of a global pharmaceutical brand.
The Challenge
The Pennsylvania Convention Center’s main hall presented a major acoustic challenge — a 65,000 sq ft flat-floor exhibition space with high reverberation, making clear speech delivery extremely difficult for a conference of this scale. At the same time, the client required a seamless 24-metre-wide stage with a single uninterrupted visual experience, which made the technical brief complex from the very beginning.
In addition to the core production challenges, the four-day event had multiple programme formats including large-scale plenary sessions for over 4,000 attendees, smaller breakout sessions, evening gala production, and live broadcasts to a global remote audience. The entire system had to perform flawlessly across every format without any technical downtime.
The client also required full bilingual programme delivery, including simultaneous interpretation for multiple languages, broadcast-quality audio in a highly reflective space, and a visual production standard that positioned the event as a world-class global technology summit.
Our Approach
Our first step was an immersive three-day site survey — not a brief walk-through, but a full acoustic and structural analysis of both halls alongside the venue’s head of technical operations. We used room-modelling software to simulate speaker placement and predict reverberation patterns before a single piece of equipment was ordered.
For the audio solution, we specified a line-array system with 22-degree horizontal directivity — significantly narrower than standard configurations — which allowed us to direct sound precisely at the audience while minimising wall reflections. Cardioid subwoofer arrays were deployed to further control low-frequency energy in the room.
L-Acoustics K2 line arrays with KARA II delays, optimised for maximum clarity and minimal wall reflections.
ROE Black Onyx 3.9mm LED panels built into a seamless 24m × 5.5m display, fully colour-calibrated across all tiles.
Six-camera broadcast setup with backup vision mixers, cellular uplinks, and a backstage studio.
Bosch DCN-NG interpretation system with six isolated language channels and zero cross-talk.
For the transition challenge between plenary and breakout formats, we developed a modular pre-rigged system — breakout room infrastructure was pre-built in parallel with the main hall install, with dedicated crew teams assigned to each space. Session turnarounds were rehearsed and timed to ensure the 45-minute window was achievable consistently, every day.
Our Approach
Build commenced 72 hours before the first delegate arrived. A crew of 38 — riggers, audio engineers, lighting programmers, video technicians, and broadcast operators — worked in coordinated shifts across the Convention Center’s two main halls and six breakout rooms simultaneously.
The lighting design for the main stage was developed in close collaboration with GSK’s internal brand team. The brief called for a look that felt architecturally precise rather than theatrical — confident and modern, but not distracting from the speakers or the content on screen.
Each of the four day’s programmes was pre-visualised and cued in advance, with full rehearsals run with the presenting teams on Day 0. The show operator managed 340 individual lighting cues and 180 video cues across the four days — with not a single missed cue or technical incident logged.

The Results Speak Clearly
The largest single audience delivered by Eventions at the Pennsylvania Convention Center to date.
Peak concurrent viewers during the Day 2 keynote broadcast — exceeding projections by 18%.
Zero technical failures, interruptions, or incidents logged across all four days of programming.
Post-event delegate survey score for event production quality — the highest in the summit’s 12-year history.
“The technical production was a contributing factor to the success of the
summit — not just a backdrop to it. Our internal team received more
compliments about the production quality than any previous year.”
